Question????

Hey teachers out there......what should I do about changing my name with my kids that I see? My name with my kids in EI and at the clinic is fine, it's "Miss Amber". However, I see kids at the school and they call me Miss Knott. I see some kids for 3 years in a row, so some of them have known me as Miss Knott for 2 years. I'm getting married in October, so do I start the year as Miss Knott and then change to Mrs. Hardy? I usually see kids in pairs of two, and it could be a mixture of a new kid with an old kid. So, I can't have my old kids call me Miss Knott and my new kids call me Mrs. Hardy. What should I do????

Just change it when you get married. Some kiddies will still call you Miss Knott, but they'll eventually get used to it!!

  2. I got married in October as well. They will adapt...although it will take some longer than others!

  3. Well I can't speak as a teacher, but I can speak as a former student who had teachers get married and as a professional worker who got married-I personally would do the switch when you get married and have them start calling you that-all of them call you Mrs. Hardy-old and new-in Oct when it happens. For those that have known you a while it will be odd-heck, it's gonna be odd for you and everyone else who has known you so long-but it's sort of unbelievable how quiclkly everyone adapts to the new name-you, your family, friends, and students. It seems weird now, but a month or two after when everyone has made the change, you'll see it was fairly easy and seamless. :)

  4. Just have them call you Mrs. Hardy after you get married. Just tell them you got married, they'll probably understand.

  5. I remember some of my teachers changing their name in elementary school, and it took a while, but we all got used to it. :)

I finally figured out how to officially follow your blog by the way!
